The GIMP - One of my favorites, the GIMP is arguably one of the best Photo editing programs available today with a stunning range of features and filters enabling a truly professional output. Wowser...the latest version of Inkscape is now in Pre-release and I have to say it is absolutely stunning. In particular the new Filters are such an amazing feature. The latest pre-release version is available in the form of a self installing .exe file and can be downloaded Here.

The Great thing about the filters is that they work on Vector and Bitmaps. They work on Shapes and Text...anything. From the main menu choose Filters You will notice that the Image of the text does not look very sharp. Don't worry about this, it is only the preview that is not sharp. Export the filtered Object as a .png (Portable Network Graphics) file and you will see the real quality of the Image. I knocked up The Jade image on the right in minutes....can't wait to experiment more. This new release clinches it for me..Inkscape is leaving Illustrator and Corel Draw behind big time. If you don't use inkscape you should grab this latest version. More on this at my Hub on Hub pages. Web Design Graphics was never easier to create!
